Simulated Error Performance of an All Optical Time Division Multiplexed System

چکیده
In this paper we present a system model of an all optical time division multiplexed transmission based on the terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD). The architecture is based on a system which has as its input an OTDM packet containing header and payload information. The model simulates extraction of header information, from the data stream using a TOAD, which is subsequently used to make a routing decision. The payload information is routed through a second TOAD according to the information contained in the header. A bit period of 4 ps corresponding to a 0.25 Tb/s bandwidth optical network is assumed. The simulation performance namely the bit error rate (BER) and packet error rate (PER) are presented.
